Being a student representative can be a tough job – but you aren't alone!
The SoR has launched a free handbook for SoR student reps, student union reps and course reps.
The guide explains how to access support and up to date information on everything from consulting with fellow students, what to do if you discover someone on your course is being bullied, or where to refer students with concerns about their course, clinical placement or exams.
Kris Owden, SoR student rep at Liverpool said: “Being a rep can be a rewarding experience, but there are challenges. The handbook contains information and advice on how to be an effective student rep. It is an extremely useful tool for a new or experienced student rep.”
Kris is keen to see more radiography students volunteering as reps: “Being a student rep opens up many opportunities. You gain valuable life and workplace skills that will benefit your professional development including negotiating, assertiveness and communication skills. All this will look great on your CV when you start applying for your first job!”
