Despite fears from organisers that UKRC attendance would be affected by the recession this year, student radiographers were out in force.
Held from Monday 8-Wednesday 10 June in Manchester Central, the three day multidisciplinary congress covered all aspects of diagnostic imaging and oncology.
The latest equipment from companies including Siemens, Toshiba, GE, and Philips was on display and CPD learning opportunities were offered, with live workshops and demos held on the stands.
Amongst those making the most of the free exhibition entry were Victoria Jesper and Stephanie Kemp, both final year students from Salford University.
Said Victoria: "We have visited the recruitment agencies and the stands with information about working abroad. We've also seen demonstrations of the latest equipment from the major companies exhibiting here. It really helps to see the machines in front of you and compare how they differ to those you use on your clinical placement."
Victoria was also one of almost a hundred students who visited the SoR stand this year to sign up as a member and take advantage of student offers.
Final year students who updated their contact details with the Society on the stand were entered into a prize draw, with first prize a £200 Sony Ereader and five runner-up prizes of £50 in high street vouchers.
For non-members in their final year got six months free SoR membership if they signed up on the day.
"I have signed up for the Society and received six months free membership," Victoria explained. "Being a member will be really helpful as it covers my insurance for my placement abroad and I can use Synergy and the SoR document library to keep up to date with current practice for my CPD."
• Competition winners will be announced on the SoR website, where there are also details of how to join the Society and further offers and member benefits.
