As the flu outbreak worsens, the SoR predicts it will be affected in a number of ways:
• SoR members are likely to be very busy at work in healthcare settings;
• Members of SoR staff may be away from work because they are sick or caring for someone who is sick with the virus;
• Members of staff may be unable to get to work in head office if transport is affected;
• Staff who visit hospitals to meet with our members may be restricted due to infection control measures or the fact that health services will be extraordinarily busy;
• It may be necessary to review whether meetings and events should take place as planned.
Richard Evans, the SoR's chief executive officer, commented: "The national preparations for the pandemic have been good and the continuing advice from the government is sensible. We all need to remain calm and take care of our own health and the health of others.
"The SoR has 39 members of staff, many of whom work away from our head office and others who can work from home. Our first priority will remain to provide support and advice for our members. If you need to contact the SoR, the first point of contact as always should be your local accredited representative. Of course, this may not be possible and members are welcome to contact members of staff.
"There are telephone numbers and email addresses for SoR staff in Synergy News and on the website. We will be working to ensure that as far as possible we continue to provide the highest quality of services to support SoR members."
