The Society of Radiographers welcomes student members and offers a reduced rate subscription.
The SoR provides the services and support you need throughout your course and help you have your say in matters affecting the profession.
Nick Barlow, SoR student member, Yorkshire and North Trent Region explains: "The SoR helps academically. Having free access to Radiography journal provides plenty of references for your essay writing, and the Society provides some excellent advice on things like exam preparation and technique on the SoR website.
"The Society also offers help with travel insurance for elective placements abroad. I was sorting out a placement in Hong Kong, for example, and was struggling with the insurance. I contacted the SoR and was given some excellent advice on planning the transport and accommodation. I was also entitled to sufficient insurance to cover the placement.
"All in all, the SoR membership has offered me some excellent opportunities over the past two years and the experiences I have gained are priceless!"
How to join
Year one students receive complimentary membership for the first year. If you are in your first year of training and wish to join the Society, you cannot register online and will need to contact the Membership Department on 020 7740 7200, option 1, to set up your free membership.
Complimentary membership for 2008 first years ends on 30 September. To retain your student membership after the complimentary period, you will need to visit our website and log on using your student membership number and password, update your personal details and complete the direct debit option.
For continuing years, student membership is offered at a vastly reduced rate of £4 a month – a significant number of universities pay the Society membership fee for their students, so find out whether yours pays for you.
Students starting a radiography programme in the 2008-9 academic year, who maintain membership for the whole of their education programme, will receive six months' complimentary full membership on qualifying.
