Many employers now have their application forms on their websites or on the NHS Jobs website. SoR student officer Samantha Jewell shares her top tips to help you become an online master...
1) Beware! Online job applications can be deceptive because once you have filled in the boxes and clicked send they arrive instantaneously. Make sure you answer all the questions. It is too late to go back once you have pressed the send button.
2) They need the same amount of thought and preparation as a paper application form. Find out about the job and the potential employer and match your skills and experience to their requirements.
3) Write a draft copy using a word document, rather than directly online, so that you can copy and paste in your information where possible.
4) Don't be tempted to apply for lots of jobs online because it is easier. Only apply for jobs in which you are genuinely interested.
5) If you are cutting and pasting answers into application forms from Word, make sure you have read through what you have written. The last thing you want to do is to paste one employer's name into an application to another employer!
6) Remember to save every few minutes to avoid losing your hard work.
