No need to get your best gear wet; this is an indoor challenge!
A radiographer from the north of England is organising a nationwide radiology department indoor rowing challenge and wants you to be a part of it.
The national event will take place in November, as part of the World Radiography Day celebrations. It is anticipated the event will be a major fund raiser, with each team choosing their own charity.
Andrew Powell, a radiographer at Cumberland Royal Infirmary, is encouraging students on clinical placement up and down the country to take up the challenge.
He explains: “A team of ten members of the radiology staff would complete 100km (10km each) using one Concept 2 in-door rowing machine in the fastest possible time. The rowing itself would take place within hospital trust property, in public, in order to gain maximum publicity for the profession.
“Having competed in this event some years ago I am familiar with the scale of the challenge, however the benefits to both the individual and the team far outweigh any hardship endured.
“Furthermore the calendar is on your side – November is more than six months away allowing ample time to prepare.
“It would be wonderful for all of you to join us in the challenge and make this a truly national event demonstrating we do offer something extra!”
