UKRC 2008: A CPD extravaganza

Want a new way to please your tutor? Improve your learning at UKRC!

Pick up approved CPD at this year's UK Radiological Congress, with more education opportunities on the programme than ever before.

The College of Radiographers Industry Partnership Scheme (CoRIPS) has announced a new initiative 'Education on the Stands' to provide CPD value in the UKRC exhibition as well as in the lecture programme.

Richard Evans, SCoR CEO commented: "UKRC is changing for the better. The academic programme has been organised with radiographers' CPD and career development in mind. Now we are seeing the companies getting involved in this innovation too.

"There will be opportunities for students and radiographers to pick up approved CPD all around the exhibition and satellite symposia.”

Catherine Barrett was amongst the student delegates last year and plans to attend this year too: “Last year was a great experience. Four of us attended from my university. We got to view the latest equipment and talk to radiographers from other countries, such as Canada and New Zealand, as well as radiographers from the Armed Forces and TA.

"Attending the lectures was fascinating, one of the radiologists in our placement hospital was quite envious of the world renowned speakers we saw."

It wasn't all hard work though, Catherine adds: “It was also really good fun, especially with a group of us. I would recommend any student makes the effort to go – more of us plan to go this year.”

If you are thinking of going, remember there are plenty of discounts and offers available for students including:

• A a reduced rate for undergraduates/individuals on bursaries and scolarship means you can learn for less. Prices are £36 for one day; £50 for two and £63 for the whole three days.

• Admission to the scientific poster exhibition, eponymous lectures, satellite sessions and 'Education on the Stands' is free.

• Visit the exhibition between 10.00 and 11.00 and have a complimentary coffee and danish as you chat to your friends.

• Look out for free student goodies on the SCoR stand!

UKRC 2008 will be held in Birmingham, from Monday 2 to Wednesday 4 June.
