Student representatives from each SoR region are invited to attend the SoR Annual Delegates Conference (ADC), which will be held from 12-15 April 2008 at the Queens Hotel in Leeds.
Radiographer and student representatives from each SoR region attend ADC. Motions on industrial relations, health and safety, professional development and related issues are debated and voted upon. Motions which are carried go forward to the elected UK Council for acceptance as SoR policy.
Last year's conference saw several student motions carried, including a call to increase clinical training time for students; a promise to research student drop out rates from radiography degree courses and a request for UK Council to campaign to avoid erratic over and under supply of newly qualified radiographers.
Second year student Sadia Rafiq from Salford University attended. She said: “I was a bit overwhelmed at the beginning of the conference and I didn’t know a lot about the Society before I came, but there’s a very supportive atmosphere. By the end I felt a lot more involved in the SoR and more informed about the future of radiography. I would encourage other students to come along this year!”
