Two diagnostic imaging departments in Northern Ireland have achieved success in the University of Ulster’s Placement Employer of the Year Awards.
The awards recognise the contribution that work-based learning provides as an integral part of vocation-specific degrees and other educational programmes offered at Ulster.
They also demonstrate the dedication and commitment of the clinical radiography staff and recognise their invaluable contribution to radiography education and training in Northern Ireland.
Requests to nominate ‘placement partners’ who had provided exemplary student experience during the past 12 months were invited from all public and private sector employers who offer student placement.
There were over 180 entries from a diverse range of organisations. These entries were assessed by an independent panel and a shortlist of 18 nominees across six categories was produced.
The category Public Sector Placement Employer of the Year Award was won by the Causeway Hospital in Coleraine. In recognition of their success, Briege McKeag, radiography practice educator; Nikki Armstrong, radiography services manager and the rest of the staff received an engraved crystal sculpture and a certificate.
In the category Short-term Placement Employer of the Year Award, radiography staff at Craigavon Area Hospital were highly commended.
