Want a chance to shine?

If you would like the chance to be a winner in this year's Radiography Student of the Year Award then this is the time to come forward.

Now in its third year, the award honours final year undergraduates who represent the 'best of the profession’s values'.

One award each will be made to a diagnostic and theraputic student for their 'outstanding achievement during their radiography training'.

"Many universities hold their own awards but this is a national competition judged by key members of the profession so the title is really unique," said Samantha Jewell, SoR professional officer for education and students.

"The winners will stand out instantly when they apply for jobs, which is a great opportunity at a time when there is tough competition for posts."

The presentation will take place alongside the SoR Radiographer of the Year 2010 and Team of the Year awards ceremony, which is held at the House of Commons and attracts national press coverage.

Explains Sam: "The winners and their guests are invited to a champagne reception to celebrate. It is a wonderful opportunity to recognise excellent work and meet people from across the profession."

One of last year's two winners, Nicholas Barlow, says for anyone interested in nominating themselves or their students he “cannot recommend it more strongly”.

He added: “It is not only an incredible experience to attend the awards themselves, but winning such a prestigious award will build a great platform for you to develop your career.”

Students will be nominated by their HEI, with an additional reference from their clinical placement. If you wish to be put forward or to nominate a colleague please speak to your course tutor.

Read the form for more information. Deadline for submissions 16 August 2010.
