Revised standards for radiographers

Reading the revised standards can help students get ahead.

The Health Professions Council (HPC) has published revised standards of conduct, performance and ethics.

The standards apply to a range of health professionals, including radiographers, who are obliged to register with the HPC in order to practise legally.

They provide guidance to registrants to help them make decisions about their practice and explain expectations in terms of their professional behaviour.

Professor Audrey Paterson, Director of Professional Policy for the SoR, explained how reading the revised standards can help students get ahead: “Although the standards only apply legally to those already qualified and registered with the Health Professions Council, student radiographers also need to understand them very well indeed.

“Once qualified and registered with the HPC you will be expected to comply with the standards fully, so getting to grips with them now makes good sense. Log in, read and reflect on what is expected of you when you become a practising radiographer!”

The revised standards will be launched on 1 July 2008.

Visit the HPC website or email for hard copies.
